An explanation of CEFRL levels and how they correspond to TOEIC
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, usually abbreviated to CEFR or CEFRL, is used to classify language levels across Europe. The levels range from A1 to C2, and correspond to the following levels of fluency:
A1 – beginner
A2 – pre-intermediate
B1 – intermediate
B2 – advanced
C1 – highly advanced
C2 – fluent
To get an idea of your level you can find a useful self-assessment grid in English here, and in French here.
The skills tested are understanding (listening and reading), speaking (spoken interaction and spoken production) and writing.
Although this is a common reference framework, other frameworks exist, and it is useful to know how they compare. To comply with Qualiopi requirements and CPF certification, ImmoEnglish uses the TOEIC en autonomie test provided by our partner, ETS Global. This test gives candidates a score using a different framework.
TOEIC certifications
TOEIC tests give candidates a score ranging from 0 to 990 based on listening, reading and grammar skills. This table gives the equivalent scores for TOEIC and CEFLR:
